Assistant Professor in Latina, Latino, and Latinx Studies

The Latina and Latino Studies Program at Northwestern seeks to hire an Assistant Professor of Latina, Latino, and Latinx Studies. The Program is a vibrant, cross-disciplinary community comprised of core and affiliated faculty, active undergraduate majors and minors, as well as graduate students from across various disciplines. The appointment will be fully in the Latina and Latino Studies Program. The start date for this position is September 1, 2022.

We welcome applications from any area of study, but we are particularly interested in scholars specializing in Afro-Latinidades, Indigeneity, environmental justice, and/or expressive cultures, including sound and media studies, grounded in U.S. Latina/o/x communities. We will consider applicants with doctoral degrees in any related field, but the teaching and research of applicants must engage the core questions, approaches, and methodological advances that have defined, and continue to define, Latina, Latino, and Latinx Studies as a distinct interdiscipline. In addition to courses in their area of specialization, applicants should also contribute to the Latina and Latino Studies Program’s core curriculum, including teaching our Introduction to Latino Studies course.
